Post Script 2: The State of Simon

Simon of Space has been picked up for publication by the nice people at Ephemera Bound. As a consequence, the first edition of the book self-published by me is no longer available for sale. A heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who troubled to buy a copy. You sweet people are keeping me out of debtors' prison.

The text on this weblog has won a stay of execution, and will remain on-line and freely available for the time being. (You are safe, do not panic.)

As requested, I have set up a discussion board for announcements about the progress of the hardcover second edition, criticism and speculation, fanfic and inspired artwork, and general chit-chat. It's a bit experimental right now -- a bit bare bones. User registration isn't yet automated, for example. If things go well I'll upgrade to the commercial version of the discussion board software, which has niftier features.

Don't forget to check out Simon of Space: The Merchandise. You know it never really happened unless you have a T-shirt about it. Or at least a mug. (And who knows? In a few years you might be able to eBay it for a dirty sum. Keep your fingers crossed, friends.)

This post concludes the Simon of Space weblog.

Thank you, and good night.

I don't think I'm going to tell my wife that I spent nearly 50 bucks on a signed paperback book (CDN) and now fully intend to buy said book bound in hardcover.

"But Honeee-yyyy... It'll be worth so much more on eBay in 20 years" just won't fly, methinks.

Oh well. I'll still buy both.

And probably a mug too.

I'm just happy we're helping keep you out of debtor's prison. You have such a lovely (and growing!) family, and you wouldn't be much good to them there! ;)

I still haven't bought my mug, but I'm going to soon. My book should be here soon...I got an e-mail from Lulu this week saying it was shipping! :)

Congratulations. It's well-deserved.

My girlie T will arrive within days. I anticipate having to explain it over and over to my actor friends at work. (They're smart and curious, but narrowly-focused. They'll love the "do not panic" part, though.)

Thanks again for another delightfully creative read.

*sigh* I figured I'd miss the Lulu run, but of course that just means I won't end up paying fifty bucks for a signed paperback (don't worry, I made my donation months ago)!

I know this has been sort of thrown around, but when do you think we'll see this in stores?

Bang-up job, and I can't wait to check out the forum...

Umm, what happens to the copy I ordered through Lulu, that after a week is still "fullfilling"?

And congrats on getting a publisher Matthew.

Don't shoot the messenger:

Lulu says:

Expect 5-8 days to print your order, and then there is shipping time.

Lulu adds:

Expect a 5-10 day delay before we even get the printing started as we are currently fuxx0red due to high order volume.

Lulu apologizes:

Too bad so sad, sucker. Hope you're the patient-type.

The curtsy was a nice touch. And like sheik, I missed out on the self published version. Darn you for being so fast at getting a publisher!

No less than you deserve, however. :)

I gots my Simon by Lulu a couple days ago.

How do I send it off to CBB to be all autographied and such?

It'll be a nice companion piece to the "official" hardbound version when that comes out.

VeriWord: lfudznac - images of Elmer Fudd and Prozac leap to mind, but that doesn't quite work...

Yes. There remains still a handful of signed or to-be-signed first editions available.

I ordered two signed editions a while ago (Sept 24th, got paypal conformation and all) but have yet to see them grace my mailbox in the USA.

Are we still waiting for printing?
